Fall into Autumn (part 1)
Autumn is when my house shows best! Many years ago when I chose my paint colors I wasn’t planning on a mix of Fall foliage, but that’s exactly how it turned out. I choose warm colors to accent my dark wood and white crown molding. Since we painted in the summer, the Fall color scheme didn’t even click until the leaves started changing in our yard.
I decorate for Fall the way others would for the holidays (mind you my Christmas decorations are pretty awesome as well…). It’s a lot of work, but that’s why I decorate at the end of September and break it down the first week in December. This way I have two full months to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
Your entry is the first opportunity to set the tone. I’m more of a “less is more” type of person when it comes to decorations. My pumpkin patch in the foyer are grapevine pumpkins I’ve collected over the years. I have two chests that face each other in the hall which are perfect for my little menagerie of gourds and candles
This year I added garland above the windows in my Sunroom. I found the garland at Hobby Lobby. Such an EASY an inexpensive way to add a little Fall flourish. I use 3M hooks the same color as the molding and you can leave them up until next year!
